While anchored the Ear appears as a sensory organ ‘listening’ to the water’s ambient sounds. It is an island passively absorbing all the audio waves in its vicinity. As an aural surveillance object it transmits the sounds of the harbour to the headset on the pier. The Ear floats like a boat, and has been on diurnal surveillance missions in Harbours New York City, Halifax NS, and New London CT.
